A Thought That Led To Sharing

Don’t wait until you feel adequate. Leaders are learners…As a leader, you are not responsible for knowing everything there is to know about leadership. You are responsible for sharing what you do know with the leaders around you.

– Andy Stanley, Next Generation Leader, pg. 92

In May I started a new job. I’m a high school music teacher and I moved from one school to another. As I was making the transition I took the opportunity to refresh my leadership skills by reading some books on leadership. It was then that I read the above quotation by Andy Stanley. It’s one of the things that – along with influencing my leadership – also led to me starting this blog.

The quotation originally addresses sharing tips about leadership, but I think it’s good advice no matter the subject. We can’t get too caught up making sure we know everything about something before sharing. If we do, we’ll never share much. Give what you’ve got when you’ve got it.

For instance: I’ve got things I’ve heard, so I’m sharing them.
